This project was triggered by the idea of publishing the “Parallel-Drawn” Bible (not just illustrated Bible). In other words, translating the Bible from written or verbal into visual, symbolic language. The following sources: the Canonic Bible (Old and New Testaments), Judaic-Christian mythology, interpretations of Jewish mysticists, Christian Gnosticism – are used in an attempt of coding and conservation of the archetypes using a “different language” of symbolic primitivism, which is the most universal in terms of understanding of all racial, ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds. More than 300 works of art created by Eugene Vishnevsky can be perceived as the “free-illustrated” Bible, or as an attempt of “new materialization” of the known Biblical archetypes.
I have not seen Bergman’s SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE but what you describe does seem very moving and sad.
I like Bergman’s movies a lot…
